If you’re looking for a way to make money from the comfort of your own home, there’s a website called uTest that claims you can make money by testing your favorite brands.
If that sounds interesting, I recommend reading this uTest review before you (arguably) pull the trigger.
Before you sign up, it’s important to read the site you’re about to join. This way you can be sure if the website is legit or just another scam to avoid. That’s what this review is for.

What is uTest and what does it offer?
uTest is a software testing site that pays for software or website testing (on request). In fact, it’s a legit site because it pays for testing.
The question is, is it worth it? To answer that, you must first look at the income opportunities it offers so that you can understand how the site works. This will help you assess whether your time investment is worth it.
Option 1 – Test Design
The main way uTest makes money is by testing software. However, to do this, you need to follow a few steps first.
As you can see from the photo above, you have to follow a kind of tutorial called uTest Academy. Basically, you will be told the details of the uTest earnings.
uTest Academy has around 24 courses. We recommend that you complete each course before attempting a pilot. This gives you access to more expensive test projects.
After completing all courses, you will most likely be invited to a pilot project. Although it takes a little longer and you won’t be rewarded for completing every course, it’s a good idea to complete all available courses.
After completing the course, the next step is to complete your profile. Once your profile is complete, you will receive invitations to test projects.
There are several things to consider with this type of testing, which can be classified as follows:
Function: Workflow failed
Image: UI design and distortion or error
Content: typos, grammar, localization
Performance: Problematic throttling, crashes, or slow UI
Crash: App crashes unexpectedly
Most test types revolve around this category, so you can use them as a reference for any test project you work on. Make sure you follow the instructions for the project you are working on.
If you have taken all of the uTest Academy courses, you should have no trouble passing the tests required by uTest.
If you’ve done this before the deadline, you’re good to go. All you have to do is wait for uTest to validate your work and get your reward (we’ll explain how to get your reward later). Usually uTest takes a day or two to complete the verification process.
Option 2 – Referral Program
uTest also has a referral program for members. However, our referral program is slightly different from other referral programs. The reason I say this is because you don’t get paid to invite people to join uTest.
Instead, you’re rewarded for finding people to work on specific uTest projects. So we’re not looking for people who just want to join our platform. You are looking for the right person for one of uTest’s ongoing testing projects.
These are the conditions that must be met in order to start making money from your referrals. That’s why I say it’s a little different from other referral programs as most referral programs just ask you to invite other people to your site.
The referrer must pass at least two uTest Academy courses to receive the award. In this case, 25% of the placement fee will be paid. If your referrer submits an approved work on the uTest project, you get the remaining 75%.
How will they pay me?
For each successfully completed test project, you will receive a certain amount credited to your uTest account balance. However, before you can start receiving payments, you must first set up your preferred payment method.

Once set up, all you have to do is wait for your payment to expire.
uTest has two monthly payment periods. Payments are made on the last 15th days of each month. Once you earn at least $2 per pay period, your earnings will automatically transfer to your preferred payment method.
For example, if you complete a project on the 11th of every month, you will receive $30. This is included in the 15-day payout period, so expect $30 to be credited to your PayPal or Payoneer account (whichever you choose) after 15 days.
If you have not reached the threshold required to withdraw your earnings, uTest will not process the payment until you reach it.

As mentioned above, we get paid for bugs/issues found. So unless you are thorough or good at identifying bugs and problems, you will not get much benefit from this site.
So if you are new to product/software testing, it will take time before you can maximize your income. Most projects end up around $10-$50, which I think is a pretty good price.
However, project availability is not reliable in practice. One thing we can say is that uTest sees you as a trusted tester, so if you have been using uTester for a long time, you will get more invitations to test.
It is also important to build your reputation as a tester. So if you want to maximize your income with uTest, get in the habit of submitting quality work all the time.
Can I use it on mobile?
At uTest, we don’t just test computer software. You may also be asked to test your mobile app. Therefore, being able to use uTest on mobile devices is more of a necessity than an option.
The fact that it is intuitive also improves the overall usability of uTest. Finally, for platforms looking for bugs or other applications or software problems, it is very important that the platform is bug and problem free.

Who can participate in uTest?
uTest is available worldwide. Therefore, you can register as a member no matter where you live. However, you must be at least eighteen years old to apply.
So, the obstacle to overcome is precisely their academic background. Once completed, you are considered a tester and can earn money.
